My Custom Recent Posts Widget is a WordPress widget that I've created a couple of days ago to display only the recent posts from a given category. It accepts an additional Category field where you can specify the ID of the category you want to use for retrieving posts. It works exactly as the standard Recent Posts widget, except for the additional category parameter. You can find it on GitHub.
